  • Must possess and be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Overnight travel required up to 50% of the time.
  • Required to pass a pre-employment physical.
  • Required to wear a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) at all times while working on open floating plant decks.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. For the GS-05 grade level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting senior surveyor/survey party chief with collecting topographic or hydrographic data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). NOTE: Completion of appropriate training such as in-service training programs, training acquired while serving in the Armed Forces, and government-sponsored developmental training programs will be allowed credit on a month-for-month basis depending upon its applicability. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Education: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution (a) with major study in an appropriate field of surveying, engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following courses: surveying, engineering, industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, forestry, geography, navigation, cartography, physical science, or mathematics. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. For the GS-06 grade level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting senior surveyor/survey party chief with collecting topographic or hydrographic data AND utilizing surveying software to obtain and process data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). For the GS-07 grade level: Specialized Experience: *One year of specialized experience which includes recording hydrographic survey data (i.e. channels, harbors, rivers or coastal areas) OR recording topographic survey data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). *For the GS-08 grade level:
