New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC) is a not-for-profit organization working in partnership with the New York State Department of Health to improve healthcare by collaboratively leading, connecting, and integrating health information exchange across the State.

Founded in 2006 by healthcare leaders, NYeC works to help New York State achieve the Triple Aim of improving the patient experience of care, delivering better health outcomes, and reducing costs. On behalf of the State, NYeC leads the Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY), a network connecting healthcare providers statewide, develops policies and standards that support the utilization of health technologies, and assists healthcare providers in adopting and effectively using electronic health records.

Position Summary:

NYeC is seeking anIT Internto join our Corporate Support Services team to provide exceptional service for our employees and who is eager to learn multiple technologies and gain experience across all facets of the corporate IT environment. This individual will work with and receive support from the Corporate Support team.

This role is for a part time position (27 hours per week or less) and will be paid $20 per hour. This position is expected to begin in June 2024 and go through the summer. There may be an opportunity for the person hired into this role to stay on longer term during the school year. This role will require you to work a hybrid schedule (some days will be in person in our Albany office and other days remotely). You must be able to commute to the Albany, NY office. Your exact working schedule will be determined by your supervisor.

Key Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Develop and deliver user trainings, materials and support for new corporate services, polices and or application deployments.

  • Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, or online via email, phone, Teams or Zoom.

  • Monitor, maintain, diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software requests/issues.

  • Window laptops, iPhones, Printers

  • Audio/Video Conference Technology, Teams, Zoom

  • New or existing employee workstation setups: Laptops, Phone, Power strips, Monitors, Docking stations.

  • Follow standard help desk procedures, collaborate and or escalate problems to correct resource as needed.

  • Log all help desk interactions in the Jira ticketing system.

  • Follow-up with users (internal NYeC staff) to ensure complete resolution of tickets.

  • Assist with training and in-service events for staff for new and revised software and hardware.

  • Determines most effective manner to resolve end user technical issues. Engages in research and in-depth troubleshooting to resolve problems. Consults with team when necessary.

  • Learn and incorporate any necessary new skills and processes to provide service on new and evolving environment.

  • Monitor environment to ensure that all desktops and laptop PCs remain in compliance.

  • Assist team with maintaining inventory of all equipment, software, and software licenses.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Experience and Skills:

  • Currently enrolled in a four-year degree program majoring in Information Systems, Computer Science or similar field or enrolled in a similar Master’s program.

  • Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Basic knowledge of printers, copiers, scanners, laptops, monitors, and other frequently used corporate tech equipment.

  • Detail oriented with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

  • Understanding of basic networking concepts and protocols; DNS, DHCP, VPN, SD-WAN, LAN/WAN, Wi- Fi.

  • Knowledge of Jira and AWS a plus.

  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service, team, and collaboration skills.

  • Effectively communicate in both oral and written form.

  • Exercise independent judgment within defined parameters.

    Expectations of Employees:

  • Employees work a hybrid in-office schedule (at either our Manhattan, NY or Albany, NY office and then remotely). Barring specific exemptions, team members are expected to work from the office on a regular schedule determined by the COO and on other days specified by their manager (no less than 1 day per week in the office). This schedule is subject to change.

  • NYeC supports work happening across New York State. From time to time our team members must visit other parts of the state. The most common requirement is for a New York City based team member to travel to Albany and vice versa.

    We consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may cause compensation to vary depending on your skills, experience, qualifications, and home office location (Manhattan, NY vs. Albany, NY). The compensation offer will not be based on a candidate’s compensation history at other jobs, and by law, NYeC will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with NYeC.
