The M365 People Team builds the core of the Microsoft People System - spanning all aspects of people, contacts, profile information, settings, preferences and more that enables our 5 billion+ users to discover, connect, and collaborate with others, forming communities in a personalized, trusted, and frictionless manner more easily.

We are a looking for Principal Engineer/ Architect to be a technical leader with solid hands on experience in building large scale distributed systems. This role not only role models, drive complex technical investments but also defines where the next set of investments should be.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical designs and decisions made by the team.

• Set a high bar for technical excellence in the team and role model through your own deliverables.

• Influence technical decisions and represent the team’s work in larger Microsoft people system forums and our partners.

• Provide thought leader to the team.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

• OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Background in dealing with large scale platforms with exposure to distributed computing/Microservices

• Proven track record as a strong and effective technical leader

• Strong customer focus and passion for doing the right thing for the customer

• Proven ability to establish trusted, effective relationships across diverse sets of stakeholders

• Excellent communication skills and cross group collaboration

• Ability to quickly pick up existing concepts and employ new techniques and strong problem solving
