Posting Summary
Under the supervision of the Zone Facilities Unit Supervisor, performs general repairs, maintenance, construction and refinishing of building components, systems, furnishings and equipment for Residential Life. Provides functional supervision of summer temporary maintenance staff and maintains a good working relationship with staff and residents. Operates University vehicle in performance of work tasks. Works in cooperation with residential education staff to support the individual development and community building efforts for all student residents, supporting and promoting a safe and healthy community life for people of all races, colors, religions, national origins, genders, sexual orientations, disabilities, and ages.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
High School diploma and three years related experience required to include general maintenance and/or carpentry. Familiarity with finish carpentry tools and machines. Ability to lift 50-75 lbs. required. Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain. Ability to complete 16-hour asbestos awareness training and State of Vermont Essential Maintenance Practices training.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience reading blueprints and maintenance and operations manuals highly desirable. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and fostering a collaborative multicultural environment highly desirable.
Anticipated Pay Range $18 to $21/hour
Other Information
Special Conditions Bargaining unit position, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, A probationary period may be required, 40 hour work week, Background Check required for this position
