Position Summary:

You will be working with Producers, incumbents identify and research prospective clients, follow up on sales calls, maintain and update a prospect database and try to drive interest. They may refer new business to Producers, or may close sales themselves. The primary responsibility of Business Development Specialists is to identify new business opportunities—typically complex in nature, figure out appropriate products/services to offer, and provide pre-sales support for Producers. Business Development Specialists have a strong working knowledge of potential clients and the insurance brokerage business and have excellent selling skills. Have ability to reach executive-level contacts within customer organizations. Incumbents may or may not be on a career path to Producer. Products/services to offer, and provide pre-sales support for Producers.

Key responsibilities also include:

  • Partnering with producers to expand and diversify our consulting relationship with our current clients and identify new prospects.

  • Measuring, reporting and improving upon effectiveness of programs and campaigns, with the purpose of improving lead generation.

  • Recruiting, hiring, mentoring & leading a team of business development specialists that contact customers and prospects to communicate opportunities to extend initiatives with the company.

  • Preparing and providing status on business results via presentations to senior management team.

  • Functions as both a leader and doer, providing position leadership and insights, supporting corporate strategic objectives while being a ‘hands-on’ member of the team.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3 years related experience including proven track record in business sales or related marketing.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and statistical/market analysis, Salesforce.

  • Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desired:

  • Master's degree desirable.

  • Proven track record leading a team of inside sales professionals within B2B sales.

  • Strong prospecting and client development skills among executives of enterprise-led organizations.
