Job Summary
The Internal Patient Transporter provides and coordinates with prioritization the delivery system for the Nursing, Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory, and Medical Record units using a beeper system and close, detailed communication between other internal transport Associates. Requires social maturity and poise to respond appropriately and communicate courteously and effectively with a wide range of internal personnel and general public. Must exhibit the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort
Works in a well lighted, ventilated and air conditioned area. Often exposed to unpleasant odors, sights and sounds. Long periods in a stationary position and moving around the unit are required. Risks; exposure to disease, infection and physical strain, exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue. Must be able to move or position 50+ lbs. independently. Typically works a set schedule with occasional overtime.
Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: One to three (1-3) years work experience required. Hospital experience preferred. CPR Certified, Gaitbelt Training.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Stretchers, gait belts, wheelchairs, transfer boards, and other types of patient transfer equipment. Must have good body mechanics. Computer skills required. Meditech knowledge preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations
CPR required.
