Amergis Special Education Teacher - $57/hr in Framingham, Massachusetts

Amergis Staffing is looking to hire a Special Education Teacher provide quality services to special education students, grades 5 through 12, through a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.

Details of the position include:

Location: Framingham, MA

Facility Type: Youth Residential Facility

Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8a-4p

Start Date: Two weeks from offer

Pay Rate: $57/hr

What You Will Do:

This would be a 40 hour position, Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:00PM, with most of the typical school holidays observed.

Teachers in the core content classrooms (in this case they are seeking someone for the Science classroom) need to possess licensure in moderate disabilities 5-12. Licensure in the content area for the classroom would be ideal, but lack thereof is not a disqualification so long as you have the moderate disabilities license.

Implement curricula according to MA State Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core Standards in a Chapter 766 approved school for students in grades 6-12. Responsible for providing challenging, motivating and relevant learning experiences in the Science curriculum and other enrichment areas in a 220 day setting. Teach classes by using various methods and materials to suit topic, IEP and/or learning style. Employ differentiated instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students, including integrating technology into lesson planning. Provide a learning environment which is physically safe and intellectually open and in keeping with special education best practices. Model the school’s academic and social expectations. Attend department meetings and relevant school and professional events/meetings as necessary. Maintain first aid, CPR and TCI certification through provided trainings. Responsible for keeping in compliance with program and agency policies, standards and protocols.

Job Description/Tasks: Deliver structured lessons and activities for assigned class period for each group/student in accordance with their current IEP. Provide individualized intervention and accommodation when necessary. Participate in assessment practices in regards to Academy's Extended Evaluation program. Assist in and/or develop IEPs as appropriate. Participate in teacher and staff meetings.

Customer Service/ Client Interaction: Establish and maintain consistent and open communication with parents and guardians.

Compliance: Complete all associated documentation regarding student progress and grading. Maintain current licensure in moderate disabilities and curriculum area.

Competencies/Traits: Demonstrates ability to work independently (i.e. can self-direct on projects, can propose project solutions in regards to their curriculum area and lesson planning). Demonstrates flexibility and creative thinking (i.e. ability to adapt and adjust to changing work situations, recognize and respond quickly when lesson/activity does not go as planned). Demonstrates the ability to teach, mentor, and coach others (i.e. able to provide constructive feedback to employees on shift, provide thoughtful and instruction). Demonstrates dependability and persistence (i.e. excellent follow through on assigned tasks).
