Students and recent graduates are the future of Baffinland and of our communities. Baffinland has created tailored programs for recent Inuit graduates and is currently recruiting candidates to join our team on a 12-month internship. Candidates who self-identify as Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement will be given priority. These roles can be at our Mary River Mine, in our communities, Iqaluit or Oakville offices. Internships that Baffinland is seeking to develop will be hosted in the following disciplines: Finance, Information Technology, Procurement, Administration and Human Resources.
Goals of the Internship:
• Development of intentional learning objective goals (work given has a learning objective)
• Provides adequate supervision in a reasonably safe environment with the necessary tools to perform the learning goals agreed upon for the duration of the internship
• Promotes career and personal development.
• Balances the intern’s learning goals with the organization’s needs.
• Involves industry related and soft skill development.
• Will be carefully monitored and evaluated for academic credit and future employment
• Supervised by a professional with relevant and related background in the field.
• Mentored for personal development

• Experiential Learning provides students with direct experience through which they can use analytical skills and reflection to apply new ideas gained from the experience to their classroom learning.

Main Accountabilities
A desire to start a career, and explore opportunities
Fulfill Task set out by supervisor in assigned department
Assist with day to day task within the department
Perform some clerical duties
Participate in regular monthly follow up calls to discuss internship program and opportunities
Conduct oneself in a professional and responsible manner
Main Qualifications
Recent Graduate of Post-Secondary Institute
Eager to learn and work with a department within the organization
Good verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Willingness to work at a remote mine site on a fly in / fly out basis
