The Department of Corrections, Correctional Industries is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer Consultant to join our team. We are looking for a dedicated individual with a positive attitude, leadership skills, organizational skills, as well as having a strong interest in engineering work.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Mechanical Engineer Consultant, you will perform a wide variety of advanced mechanical engineering duties in support of statewide corrections institutions. Duties include developing solutions to operation, maintenance, design, or construction problems, which require advanced or innovative mechanical engineering principles and methods. You are a mechanical engineering expert, and serve as project coordinator on construction projects contracted to retained professional, licensed engineers; or designed in-house.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: 

  • Full-time employment (37.5 hours per week)

  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. 

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to three days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to an office. Location will be determined at a later date.

  • Work Location: Work location will be determined based on the applicant's location and nearest available reporting location; this will be discussed during the interview process.

  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Mechanical Engineer 2; or
  • Four years of professional mechanical engineering experience which required work on any structural mechanical system.

Necessary Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a Professional Engineer License issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial Driver's License.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
