Description

Offer a high-level of customer service to students, faculty, and staff; communicate effectively with both beginning and experienced technology users; analyze and solve problems; balance multiple priorities and simultaneous projects; research and resolve technical problems; collaborate with faculty, staff, and students in a multicultural environment and work effectively with minimal supervision. Create reports using data provided in the LMS and/or other technology applications. Maintain confidentiality, reset passwords, and assist in technology training and cybersecurity initiatives.

This is a Support Staff union position as stated in the Support Staff collective bargaining agreement- Grade 9

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in managing the resolution of technical questions and issues and documenting the same.

  • Assists in identifying, securing, and implementing new technologies as well as in the planning and implementation of existing instructional technology and training others to use these technologies.

  • Performs a wide variety of clerical and administrative work related to instructional technology support at the college.

  • Provides customer service and ensures that faculty, students, and staff are assisted within established procedures.

  • Collaborate with the LMS Specialist and Instructional Designers to ensure that RCBC faculty and staff have appropriate support in the creation, improvement, implementation, and retooling of eLearning deliverables.

  • Assist, coordinate, and develop or enhance online services offered to students, faculty, and other clients.

  • Helps to produce, compile, curate, and secure learning materials in various formats to support teaching and learning needs. Assist with proofing captions for videos.

  • Performs duties related to various eLearning platforms including course creation, instructor and student access, and platform maintenance.

  • Handles inquiries from faculty, staff, and students on hybrid and online courses and course materials, and eLearning access issues including assisting with password resets following established college protocols.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Required:

Associate's Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working directly with students, faculty, and staff in an academic environment (preferred).

  • Minimum of 1-year experience working in a development, support or administrative capacity with a Learning Management System (Blackboard Learn preferred).

Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements

  • Able to think creatively to understand and diagnose complex student and faculty needs and translate these needs into appropriate technological solutions.

  • Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills, with the ability to establish priorities, manage multiple demands and projects, and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.

Additional Information

INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:

Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
