Mid Level Substation Design Engineer

Job Summary

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a mid level Electrical Engineer with experience in substation design. This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Mount Laurel, New Jersey office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).

Responsibilities

  • Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations.

  • One-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling.

  • Occasional travel will be required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Ability to function as a Mid Level Substation Design Engineer in the Mount Laurel, NJ location of our Substation Business Unit.

  • BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree.

  • Experience in substation design, preferably 15kV through 500kV, and IEEE/ANSI standards.

  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and/or Engineer in Training (EIT) registration.

  • Experience filling the role of substation design engineer for several projects occurring concurrently.

  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Desired Education/Experience

  • Five (5) or more years experience in utility substation design as outlined above.

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.

  • Experience in managing small project teams.
