Nexstar Media Group Studio Technician in New York, New York

The Audio Engineer, A1 is responsible for the sound mixing and quality of all PIX11 Morning’s Show live broadcasts. Must mix all Talent Mics, playback sources, sound FX, musical instruments, foldback on the studio floor, IFB, and Mix Minus feeds to Talent. Must manage the station’s Intercom system, including both RTS Adam and Riedel systems. Plan and execute the mixing of entertainment and musical acts appearing on the show, both in the Studio, PIX Plaza and incoming remote feeds. Oversee the A2 assigned to the Studio floor to ensure all Talent, Guests and Performers are properly mic’d and ready in advance of Air.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The successful candidate will be able to listen to Director’s or Overdrive operator commands and react swiftly and accurately to mix a clean show during live News, Entertainment and pre-recorded programming.

  • Must be able to route numerous mix minus to remotes, set up numerous RF microphones and IFBs.

  • The successful candidate must mix live television News and Entertainment segments within a 7 hour Morning block with very little setup / preparation time.

  • The successful candidate should be a problem solver and quickly resolve issues and work around problems that arise during live news broadcasts.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and concisely to the entire production team.

  • Primarily a early morning shift, however all day parts (mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) may be a part of the schedule with overtime required as situations demand.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

Five plus (5+) years’ experience in professional live television broadcast operations required.

Previous live show audio mixing experience required.

Experience with Wheatstone, CalRec and Yamaha audio boards as well as Dante Audio required. Must be proficient in operation of RTS’s AZ Edit.

Working knowledge of Shure wireless workbench.

Must work well in a collaborative team environment and be able to multitask.

Excellent PC and Network skills along with working knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field preferred.

The hourly rate is starting at $43
