Job description
Mission City Community Network (MCCN), a not-for-profit organization with multiple clinics operating as a Federally Qualified Health Center dedicated to serving low income and under-served families in the San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles and San Bernardino areas. MCCN is a full service health care provider with primary care services for children, adolescents and adults.
Position:Medical Receptionist Location: Los Angeles (Wilshire and Fairfax locations) Status:Full-Time (40hrs/wk) Monday - Friday 8a-5p and Saturday 7a-3:30p
- Willing/able to assist in coverage at other clinic locations, as deemed necessary by immediate supervisor.
Receptionist Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
- Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
- Keeps patient appointments on schedule by assisting in the preparation of medical charts to determine eligibility and program requirements in order to facilitate the patient appointments; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule.
- Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.
- Collects appropriate payment if needed.
- Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Promptly and courteously answering phones and directing calls as appropriate. Take messages and distribute if necessary.
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
- Assigned to a Primary Care Provider to process patient.
- Ensures that the correct financial screening, documentation and the appropriate sliding fee scale is used when no other payor source/program is available.
- Other duties as deemed necessary
Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish),required.**
- High School Diploma / GEDfrom a WASC accredited School
- Minimum 3 months experience as a receptionist in a medical clinic setting (*required)
- Knowledge of Health Plans; Medical, CHDP, CovCA, MHLA, etc
- Must have current driver license, insurance and own reliable transportation
- Willing to assist in coverage at other Clinics, as deemed necessary by organizational needs
Full-time (30+hrs/wk) benefits include: Health, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance. Vacation, Sick, Holiday pay, and all other benefits mandated by law.
Job Types: Part-time, Full-time
Salary: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
