Marketing Coordinator

The Philadelphia Tribune Media Group is an award-winning, multi-media company and the nation's oldest, continuously published African- American newspaper. The company also publishes print and digital editions of the Tribune, as well as various community focused supplements, and events of interest that impact the African-American community.

Job Summary: The Tribune has an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious digital and print marketing/ sales professional, who can increase digital and print subscribers and advertising revenue by cultivating relationships and creative marketing strategies. You will be representing a newspaper with an unprecedented legacy within the region and will play a significant role collaborating with Senior Staff to promote strategies that promote the Philadelphia Tribune Company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementation and coordination of marketing campaigns across multiple channels to increase brand awareness and drive customer engagement via digital, print, social media, and events.
  • Create and update marketing collateral, such as media kit, rate card, and promotional materials.
  • Support the development and execution of social media content calendars, including scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and analyzing metrics to optimize performance.
  • Support the planning and organization of events and other marketing activities, including logistics                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           setup, and promotional material preparation.
  • Create and distribute email marketing campaigns and other digital communications to engage and nurture leads and customers.
  • Manage social media platforms by creating and scheduling engaging content, monitoring user interactions, and responding to inquiries/comments.
  • Maintain marketing databases.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and agencies for the production of marketing materials, including graphic design, printing, and promotional merchandise.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proven experience (internships, coursework, or previous employment) in marketing, advertising, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an attention to detail.
  •  Proficiency in using marketing tools and software, such as email marketing platforms, social media management tools, and content management systems.
  • Basic understanding of digital marketing channels and strategies, including SEO, social media, email marketing, and content marketing.
  •  Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  •  Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and generate insights to optimize marketing campaigns.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills to contribute innovative ideas and approaches.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Canvas) is a plus.
