E&S Excess Casualty Underwriting Manager - West

Zurich is currently looking to hire an experienced E&S Excess Casualty Underwriting Manager for our West regionto lead a team of production underwriters focused on writing profitable excess casualty business with our wholesale distribution partners. We are looking to hire in Scottsdale or Phoenix Arizona. Zurich E&S is solely dedicated to the wholesale distribution channel, and this leadership opening is a result of the growth E&S is experiencing making this an exciting time to join the team!

In this role you will manage a team of underwriters and you will be expected to travel as necessary to support the needs of the team and to cultivate key broker relationships within the Western region. This is a critical role in driving and engaging team culture. This role requires a strong technical, staff development and sales execution mindset.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaOR

• Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR

• Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaAND

• 2 or more years of management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Strong underwriting acumen and expertise in the umbrella and excess space

• Wholesale broker relationships across the Western Zone (including South, West Coast, and Midwest broker partners)

• CPCU

• Excellent communication and relationship building skills

• Strong presentation skills

• Results oriented
