**[PURPOSE: [The purpose of this position is to prepare and serve meals to Corrections inmates/detainees and to clean the kitchen and food preparation equipment.

- Prepares and cooks all meals for inmates on an assigned shift
- Prepares or assists in the preparation of hot and cold meat and vegetable dishes, beverages, sandwiches, simple bakery items, and/or other similar food items, as appropriate to the position
- Prepares drink mix containers and/or hot water containers for disbursement to housing units
- Prepares sack meals for inmates leaving the facility
- Reviews menu diet cards for preparing inmate special meals/snacks
- Loads and sets up delivery carts with appropriate number of meal and special diet trays for disbursement to housing units
- Maintains and ensures all security of food storage areas and sharp kitchen utensils
- Maintains standards of sanitation and cleanliness - Cleans and sanitizes food preparation area and all equipment
- Cleans and maintains all work areas, including sweeping and mopping floors - Collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers as appropriate to the area of operation
- Assists inmate workers in washing dinner trays and other kitchen equipment
- Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies
- Maintains knowledge of food preparation, presentation methods, techniques, and food safety procedures
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
