State of Utah - Jobs Journey Electrician in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

If so, * The Department of Corrections,facilities team is looking for the best and brightest Journey Electrician to take our facilities department to the next level. *We have a great opportunity for a Journey Electrician that would be located at our Salt Lake City facility. If you have a passion for the repair and maintenance of electrical systems varying from 12 to 12,470 volts,intercom systems,notification systems,PLC control systems,and lighting systems,then this job is for you. *

The entry wage will be $35.27 for new hires and based on the agency policy for current employees of the Department of Corrections.

Principle Duties:

  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses electrical issues.
  • Makes adjustments and repairs to equipment and machinery.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Provide excellent customer service.

Required Skills,Knowledge,and Ability that are needed to fulfill this position:

  • Punctuality and exceptional attendance.
  • Must be professional,and personable.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems,installation,repair,tools,and equipment used in the electrical repair.
  • Ability to work independently as well on a team project.
  • Ability to take direction from a senior project manager.
  • Ability to work with a rotating on-call schedule for nights and weekends.
  • Knowledge of commercial high and low voltage.

     The Ideal Candidate:

  • Must have a Journey Electrician License.

  • Will have 5+ years of experience as a Journey Electrician.
  • Will have experience maintaining PLC Systems.
  • Have a wide variety of electrical work by exercising skills and knowledge about the installation,alteration,maintenance,reading of electrical schematics,inspection,and repair of electrical distribution systems (including primary and secondary wiring) along with other duties as assigned.
  • Identify and Inspect components and problems with a variety of devices.

Health Insurance - Public Employee Health Program (PEHP):

  • 3 medical plan options. Choose a Traditional or High Deductible Health Plan. There is an Opt-Out Cash Benefit option for those who have other medical insurance coverage.
  • 5 dental plan options,with an Opt-Out Cash Benefit option for those that have other dental insurance coverage.
  • 4 vision plan options under EyeMed or OptiCare

      Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS):

  • Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.

  • Employees hired on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System. 
    • Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary betwe n both plans (pension and 401(k))
    • Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.

  Paid Time Off:

  • Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual,4 hours sick).
