Nexstar Media Group Anchor/Reporter in San Diego, California

ROLE: FOX 5 San Diego/KUSI News duopoly is seeking an experienced Anchor/Reporter to support our growing team. Successful candidate excels in ad-libbing, storytelling on all platforms, connecting with viewers, can receive feedback and models professionalism on and off the air.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurate reporting of news stories

  • Attend editorial meetings and regularly pitch original story ideas.

  • Develops community contacts and a network of news sources.

  • Must be able to ad-lib live breaking news by telling a compelling story.

  • Works with photographer, producers, desk in the development of a story

  • Regularly updates newsroom on story elements and progress.

  • Uses social media to update news stories to the public.

  • Attend station partnerships in the community.

  • Anchor weekend newscasts and specials produced by the station.

  • Regularly write and proofread stories on assigned broadcasts

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • B.A. or B.S. Degree preferably in journalism or communication

  • Previous TV anchoring and reporting experience strongly preferred.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must interact positively and productively with employees in the field and in the studio.

  • Uphold station values and models professionalism on and off the air.

  • Strong on-air presentation – must be credible, personable, and engaging.

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Must be able to accept constructive direction and feedback.

  • In line with reporting duties, individual must be flexible with schedule and be willing to work additional hours or days or different shifts and holidays as required by news content.

  • Positive, solution-oriented attitude and team player

  • Can perform duties and make decisions under extreme pressure.

COMPENSATION: Starting $43.27/hr commensurate with experience and skill level
