Staff Management | SMX Managing Director of Business Development in Tacoma, Washington

Managing Director of Business Development is responsible for driving sales growth and service quality within an assigned territory/region. This position is directly involved in prospect and customer interaction as well as responsible for managing Account Managers (AM) within said territory/region.

Salary : The salary for this position is anticipated to be $95,000 - $105,000 per year plus incentive. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including but not limited to experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate’s skills and experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the pay range. The upper end of the range will generally be reserved for candidates with extensive skills and experience. Responsibilities:

  • Work on researching, developing, and executing a strategic plan for business development in the assigned region.

  • Expand business with both local/retail and National Accounts.

  • Perform face-to-face sales calls with clients virtually and while traveling in the assigned markets.

  • Identify trends and competition in markets and advocate action to maximize opportunities and minimize risk.

  • Provide a positive customer service perception and reinforce a “Value Added” proposition to customers.

  • Perform 1-1’s with direct reports weekly, including team meetings at least of once a month.

  • Ensure timely reporting to the VP of Sales on weekly and monthly KPI’s of AM’

  • Work closely with RRM and Managing Director of Service to ensure strong culture and teamwork.

  • Maintain and grow P&L for each market, ensuring revenue/gross margin % and EBIDTA goals are met.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field.

  • 5 + years of sales experience.

  • 4 years of management experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

  • Prior experience with a multi-unit organization preferred.

  • Strong team leadership skills, including coaching and mentoring.

  • Demonstrative success in sales, account management and business expansion.

  • Experience in contract negotiation.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to persuade an audience.

  • Significant experience in implementing progressive training concepts, training needs analysis and value based solutions.

  • Ability to effectively interact and build relationships with a diverse employee population.

  • Ability to independently manage multiple complex projects and meet deadlines under pressure.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Solid leadership in change management.

  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time.

  • Valid driver’s license and a car that can be used for work.
